MCBL History

The league was founded in 2016 and we are going strong.  Just in 2024 we expanded into Northwest New Jersey tapping into a collegiate talent pool that we have not had much history with.  The Sussex Miners were an excellent addition to the league as we added fantastic collegiate baseball people into the league.

This league came about from a need - a venue where North Jersey - Southern New York - NYC and more looking for a venue where players can play AND work for an internship.  We pride in the fact that we limit travel as best we can.

Why the MCBL?

Simple - we care about our area players.  Provide a baseball-first focus for all of our players - from the HS graduate through collegiate seniors.   We want our players to work an internship and teams work with you.   The recent high school senior will be thrown into a collegiate program - where the coaches, and peers, all help you get better.  That's the best part - collegiate upper class men taking the incoming freshman under their wings.  These players will play in some high pressure situations - to learn from it.  When the player is going into their first fall season - they will have a leg up on every other freshman that played non-collegiate summer baseball.

This is NOT travel baseball - we do not promote that mentality.  The goal of travel baseball is to get you seen so you can be recruited to a college baseball program.  Here at the MCBL - we applaud you to getting there - and now its time to focus on working and improving your skill sets.   


Brian Casey and René Miranda, the co-founders of the MCBL - attend many games to speak with coaches, players, and families.  We listen to all parties.  We constantly are tweaking the season to provide the most top notch experience. 

MCBL: Here is what you get

This is what we provide:

  • A 26 game schedule - playing Mondays (9 inn), Wednesdays (9 inn), and Saturday DHs (two 7 inn games)
  • Days off around July 4th to enjoy time with friends and family
  • All Star Game event at the home park of the Rockland Boulders
  • Wood bat only - no metal, no composites
  • EVERYONE makes the playoffs - so wherever you seed - you have a shot at the 'ship
  • End of season awards - Most Valuable Player, Pitcher of the Year, and Rookie of the Year
  • Interns - many interns to live score the games - your collegiate coaches can check your current stats
  • Social Media exposure - from game highlights, to in action pictures of you
  • Broadcast - depending on some game venues, games can be broadcasted where friends and family can listen in
  • Path to the ACBL Bergen Metros - highest collegiate venue in the region - MLB sponsored



The MCBL in a Nutshell

We provide a venue for the local collegiate baseball player looking for an environment where they can work on their skills to expand and improve.   Our teams are all coached by collegiate coaches, and those that played or coached at the collegiate level.   They provide insight into the game to better prepare you for the upcoming fall season at your college.
